Carpet cleaning and tile cleaning. With the carpet cleaning we use steam, a state-of-the-art truck mount machine which really gets deep into the piles and gets rid of dust. You can really see the difference between dry cleaning and steam cleaning. With the tiles the grout comes up as if it's brand new.<br/></p> <p><strong>How did you make your first dollar?</strong> I did a paper run as a child back in England, trudging through the snow.<br/></p> <p><strong>What sort of clients does your business provide services to? </strong> We deal a lot with real estate agents with premises which are rentals that have been vacated. Plus busy people who like to spruce up their homes for Christmas.<br/></p> <p><strong>How did you get into your current line of work? </strong>For 30 years I was in finance and retired just over a year ago and found after six months life was terribly boring. We found that the carpet cleaners that came to Dayboro we were totally dissatisfied with. We found that Dayboro did not have a carpet and tile cleaning service, and we decided to get a professional product up and running.<br/></p> <p><strong>What is the most unique job your business has done? </strong>We did a house recently, which was repossessed by the bank, and ducks and animals had been living in the house. The smell was unbelievable and the carpets were absolutely covered in duck poo, and the carpets came up fantastic.<br/></p> <p><strong>What do your customers most appreciate about your services? </strong> The satisfaction of us doing a professional job, and we are community based. <br/></p> <p><strong>Before your current job, what were your previous occupations? </strong> We had our own finance brokerage business in two states, and for many years I used to fly from Brisbane to Sydney every week.<br/></p> <p><strong>What is the best part of your job? </strong>Meeting people. And seeing people's faces after we've taken a carpet which is badly in need, and transformed the carpet and tiles into something spectacular.<br/></p> <p><strong>If you didn't work in your current job, what job would you like to do? </strong> Travel the world.<br/></p> <p><strong>How do you spend your spare time? </strong>We have an acreage property in Dayboro with horses, and most of my spare time is spent working on the property.
