Carpet cleaner robbed at apartment near Downtown - Indianapolis Star


<div id="GPage1" readability="77"><!--Saxotech Paragraph Count: 2<br />--><p><span class="pp"/>A carpet cleaner was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday just north of Downtown.</p><p><span class="pp"/>The cleaner had gone out on a call to an apartment at 739 W. 11th St. when two men held him up, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.</p><p>The caller said a bathtub overflowed and carpet needed drying. The cleaner knocked on two doors in the building. In one, there was no answer. In the other, a woman who wouldn't open the door said he wasn't needed. As the cleaner turned to leave, two robbers approached him from behind.</p><p>The gunmen stole the victim's wallet with $150, a Speedway gift card worth $15 and a cell phone.</p><p>The victim was the second carpet cleaner to be robbed this week.</p><p>Monday, a cleaner for a Carmel company was robbed at gunpoint while on the job a vacant Northeastside house.<span class="aa"/></p></div>
